On May 2nd, 2015, Spider Man, Nightwing, and Zatanna assembled before Desert Dune Comics and Games in Fuquay-Varina, NC. These three heroes came in full gear to support their friend, Tim Rogers, and his store on 2015 Free Comic Book Day. They represented a larger team called Enchanted Wishes, a league of heroes and princesses whose mission is to put a smile on the faces of the Raleigh-Durham community.

“We are a party company and we do birthday parties and special events,” said Zatanna, who identified herself as Raven. “We have several princesses and superheroes that all come out to your birthday parties.”

Zatanna did double-duty that day, having worked as a princess from Disney’s “Frozen” before changing roles for the Free Comic Book Day event.

The team members had some messages for all the kids out there. Nightwing warns, “Keep out of trouble, kids, or we’ll come and find you!”

All three of them encourage kids to “stay in school.” Spiderman added the warning to “watch out for Green Goblin!”

Inside, the heroes’ friend, Tim Rogers and his co-worker, Victoria Horton, kept up the fight. They may not have worn capes or spandex, but they swooped in to help shoppers perusing the shelves. After what must have been a long and tiring day of retail that afternoon, they remained upbeat and demonstrated an impressive knowledge of the products in their stock.

2015 marked the 13th Free Comic Book Day since its genesis in 2002. It takes place every 1st Saturday in May at participating comics shops. The event has grown over the years with free comics that include new launch titles and samplers from major publishers such as Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, and Valiant.
