"The Hobbit" Illustrated by Maurice Sendak?

In an article in the LA Times, Author Tony DiTerlizzi writes about a very interesting proposal: Maurice Sendak, author and illustrator of Where the Wild Things Are, could have done some artwork for The Hobbit. We all know that some of the early illustrations from the books were drawn by the Professor himself, but there was a chance back in the 1960’s that Maurice Sendak could’ve given us his interpretation of Tolkien’s Middle-earth.

  1. That would have been quite something if it had come to pass. Maurice Sendak was always one of my favorite illustrators, fab article.
