Looking for an affordable convention with lots to offer?

Check out Rob-Con in Bristol VA/TN! This weekend, convention guests can peruse many interesting booths featuring comic books, action figures, and franchise collectibles all while meeting artists, actors, and writers.

The Con is named after the owner of Mountain Empire Comics Robert Pilk. Pilk, along with his business partner John Stone, started the convention 31 years ago. The event has garnered increasing attention over the last few years, and is proud to expand the convention from one to two days this year. It will take place August 1-2 at Viking Hall in Bristol, Tennessee. Attendees from several states travel to participate in the convention every year.

The convention will also hold its annual costume competition at 3 P.M. on Saturday. There will also be panels and opportunities to meet actors/actresses, authors, and artists. According to Johnson City Press writer Jessica Fuller, guests will include:

’The Walking Dead’ actors Thesay West, Amber Dawn Fox and Triston Johnson, Dick Warlock, best known for his role as Michael Myers in the original ’Halloween II’ and a slew of authors and artists, including New York Times best-selling author and urban fantasy writer Jennifer Estep and comic book artist Gary Kwapisz, known for his work on the Savage Sword of Conan series.

Additionally, the Scooby Doo Van will be on hand, as well as Star Wars Droids (the ones you weren’t looking for). Also featured at the con this year is Make Me 3D, a group from the University of Tennessee which uses a 3D printer to make figures of convention attendees. R2-D2 Builders will bring life-size, radio-controlled Droids.

And plenty of cosplayers will be in attendance. Get that Jedi robe, satin cape, or Eleventh Doctor bowtie ready!

The cost to attend one day is only $10. Two-day passes are $15. The convention runs from 9-5:30 on Saturday and Sunday.
