"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" May Have Found its Director

It’s all but official: David Yates, director of the last four Harry Potter films, is set to direct the upcoming film adaptation of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Yesterday Variety reported that while WB has made no official announcement, “insiders confirm both sides are in negotiations.”

Of the movie, producer David Heyman states,

“The fact that [J.K. Rowling’s] going to this world means there are stories to tell…When I was doing the Harry Potters, what was clear to me is that Jo’s knowledge of this world is infinite. What you read in the books was just the surface of her knowledge. She had notebook upon notebook of stuff. I would call her and say, ‘What’s the sixth use of dragon’s blood?’ and she’d have it at her fingertips” (source).

The news of a Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them adaptation came out in Septmeber of last year, much to the joy of Harry Potter fans. As director, David Yates will join fellow Harry Potter producer David Heyman and script writer JK Rowling in making this film a truly magical Potter experience.
