Since the announcement of a Superman vs Batman movie at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con, the talk has been, “who will play Batman”.

It is unsure that Christian Bale would return as the caped crusader, so the rumors and lists of potential Batman contenders has started. The list has included such actors as Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin and Gerard Butler. Recent rumors have added Orlando Bloom to this list, who appears to be the front runner for the role after recent comments by Warner Bros. execs.

“Orlando looks odds-on to get the part even before our first casting call.” going on to say, “He would be perfect to play off Henry [Cavill] and the US audiences would be happy with two Brits as the joint male leads.”

According to Starburst Magazine, “The same report claims that 36-year-old Bloom is expected to sign a multi-picture deal, which would include the MAN OF STEEL sequel, JUSTICE LEAGUE and several other projects.”

What do you think? Can Bloom transition from Elven Archer to pirate to a beloved hero icon like Batman?

  1. I will punch someone in the throat. Bloom is cool but Batman? Then again I felt the same about Ledger as the Joker…

  2. Now this…this is *really* interesting. I am finding this Batman tale unfolding really enjoyable. XD Who will be be…dun…dun…dunnnnnn

  3. That would be a huge mistake, in my opinion. A good way to destroy all the good will among superhero fans that Nolan’s Batman earned. I have to admit though, I wouldn’t mind seeing Ryan Gosling donning the cowl. 😉

  4. I do love Orlando Bloom but I don’t know if he would be a good choice for Batman, who knows though until we see it!

  5. On a more serious note, I really don’t see how Bloom (or Gosling for that matter) fit the kind of Batman they say they’re looking for. I like the idea of someone like Michael Fassbender donning the cowl. That seems like a natural fit. And then we could have both members of the World’s Finest played by Brits!
