The newest trailer for the adaptation of Max Brooks’ best selling book, World War Z has been released from Paramount.

Directed by Marc Forster and staring Brad Pitt, we are taken to another zombie apocalypse in an epic big screen portrayal.

“United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt) traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments, and threatening to decimate humanity itself.” – IMDB

It looks like the movie is back on track after well reported delays, re-shooting, and direction.

What is it about zombies that we find so fascinating is an article posted on the PennState News

According to Peter Dendle, author of The Zombie Movie Encyclopedia and associate professor of English at Penn State Mont Alto, “Zombie movies tap into our apocalyptic fears and anxieties very effectively,” Dendle continues. “They de-romanticize the connections between human beings and reduce humanity to its lowest common denominator, focusing on power relations in their most brutal human form. It’s ‘I will exert my will over you.’ It’s very Nietzscheian,” he says. Dendle goes on to say, “There is something about the fact that, unlike space aliens or demons, zombies look like sick people,” Dendle acknowledges. “They look like diseased, unhealthy, contagious outsiders. And yet human. So it does hit home in that sense.”

World War Z opens in theaters June 2013.

  1. Note to self: Zombies are much better than we are at making human pyramids…course at that point they are zombie pyramids so it is not really fair.
